Yesterday was the first time I got out of my house in like, two weeks thanks to this combination of a cold/cough/sore throat/ebola/whatever it was that I was coming down with. I also managed to clear a half a pack of cigarettes which I totally think helped clear up my lungs but that's a matter of personal opinion. Roaming the city with my travel buddy I talked to her about a bunch of things.
I started out like anyone else who regularly went to television tapings and live free performances in the days of BSB, *NSYNC and all that other bullshit that happened in the 90's. Somewhere in the mix I linked up with a group of people who spent their days taking photographs with celebrities and collecting autographs. I thought it was cool, some of my "friends" had met people I have spent my life idolizing, and I figured if I got in good with them I'd be able to make my own collection of pictures with people I've always wanted to meet. After a couple of star-struck moments, camping out in front of hotels and really getting the good stuff, I got bored and wanted more. So intstead of just going for people I wanted to meet, I'd think of people who my friends wanted to meet and it became more of a way to make people jealous rather than just have a good time.
That was when I was around eh, 13/14. I'm coming close to ten years later and noticing a change in the way things are done. Or maybe there's just a change in my perspective. Could be a little bit of both, but I'll go on. It's a lot easier to be famous with these reality tv shows (including American Idol) and all the dating shows that have a core cast. There are about a million bands coming out everyday and since they're starting out pretty small they are easy to get access to, start convos with and hell maybe get in a few pictures. I guess it isn't that big of a deal considering I live in New York City, I was behind Kate Walsh in line for the bathroom at the Michael Clayton premiere! Sure that's a premiere, but you get my point. Pete Wentz just doesn't do it for me like he does for the little chilluns.
I went to Fashion Rocks! with my friend who will be helping me co-write this blog and a group of girls who were more excited about seeing Avril Lavigne than they were to see Oprah's Gayle. Not to mention the 3 other times they had seen Avril she was incredibly rude to them while Gayle was all waves and big smiles. She kind of reminds me of Kelly Rowland for some reason, I don't know. The point I'm trying to make is that kids don't know what's important, even if none of this shit is really important. Or maybe I just need to hang around some new people and do what I do by myself. Definitely swinging with the latter.
I guess that's a good way to set up the introduction for my new partner on this blog, and by the end of the week we can work on some pictures. That would be nice, and a fashion week update is coming soon too.
